A partnership with a Formula 1 team is a right of passage for a luxury watch-maker. There is something about the fine-craftsmanship, engineering and desirability that goes hand-in-hand with F1 and the lifestyle associated with it. When Bell & Ross and the Renault Sport F1 team announced their partnership at the beginning of the season, we were eager to see an F1 edition watch from a company that models its style on the cockpit dials of traditional aircraft. Luckily for us, it’s been a short wait – on the eve of the Chinese GP we have images of their first collaborative timepiece, due for imminent release.
The limited edition watch comes in 2 models; the BR‑X1 RS16 and the BR‑X1 RS16 Tourbillon, named after the team’s R.S.16 2016 F1 car. Team drivers Kevin Magnussen and Jolyon Palmer will be presented with their engraved BR‑X1 RS16 Skeleton Chronograph watches at the Shanghai International Circuit. The exact detailing of the watch, along with production numbers and prices are yet to be revealed. With a distinctive yellow trim to match the car’s livery, we’ll keep a keen eye out for these over the Grand Prix weekend.
