Well, not quite on Mars but the Wadi Rum desert in Jordan, which was the setting for Mars in the 2015 Academy Award-nominated Ridley Scott movie, the Martian. The Red Bull Racing demonstration team once again put together an exciting show run which involved driving the 2011 Grand Prix-winning car through the length of Jordan, passing some incredibly scenic desert vistas and historical locations.

The title-winning RB7 driven by former F1 driver David Coulthard had to have serious modifications to cope with the extreme conditions. A high suspension setting, a very effective cooling system and the ability to deal with sandstorms were just some of the challenges faced by the demo team.

The trip involved a stop off a Petra – the famous historical city famed for its rock-cut architecture and water conduit system. DC said of his trip: “To have had the chance to come and see the length and breadth of the country, it’s been a wonderful experience and I will cherish the memories, seeing one of the wonders of the world. Petra is just incredible, a truly remarkable piece of engineering, so that’s pretty damn impressive.” We’re glad you had fun, DC.
