Sometimes, things that aren’t directly F1 related slip through our nets and find their way onto the top of our site. This is one such instance, and we’re really not very sorry, because what a thing of beauty it is! Since the release of their P1 back in 2012, McLaren have been at the front of the GT racing scene for the last few years, and this little number is their 2016 spec model.
We first saw it in 2015, and it was built on the already well established 12C GT3 from past seasons. This 2016 version represents a step up in mechanical refinement and aerodynamic optimisation. Just last weekend it recorded a clean sweep at the famous Bathurst 12 hour endurance race in Australia. There has always been that niggling feeling that when McLaren first introduced the P1 and the 12C a few years back that their F1 results suffered, and have been getting worse ever since. If 2015 represented rock bottom, then surely the only way is up.
